Makayla Guin

Daughter of Linda Guin and Johnny Guin of Progresso Lakes, Makayla attends Texas State University at San Marcos where she made the Dean’s List and is a member of Delta Zeta sorority.  Makayla graduated from Weslaco High School in 2020 where she was a member of the National Honor Society.  During her high school career, Makayla also played volleyball and participated in Borderline 4-H.   Makayla was a Little Princess in the 2013 Algodon Court.  Her sister, Karlee, was Duchess of Hidalgo County in 2007, and her other sister, Paige, was also Duchess of Hidalgo County in 2012.  Makayla’s cousin, Karsen, was Duchess of Hidalgo County in 2019.  Mr. Johnny Guin, Makayla’ father, has been in the farming industry for 41 years with A&W Produce.  He grows vegetables, cotton, soybeans, grain, and watermelons.  Mr. Guin has registered Beef Master Cattle.

Helen Zulema Carter

Daughter of Jason and Kathy Carter of Harlingen, Helen attends the University of Texas at Austin where she is a member of the UT ALDPES National Honor Society and Alpha Phi Sorority.  Helen graduated from Harlingen High School South in 2020, where was a National Hispanic Scholar, AP Scholar, and in the top ten.  During her high school career, Helen was a member of the Southern Star Drill team, the National Honor Society, and varsity choir.  Helen participated in Willacy County 4-H and showed livestock during elementary school.  The Carter family has raised livestock for many generations and operated a dairy farm in Alice, Texas.

Hannah Grace Vaughan

Daughter of Jode and Ryan Vaughan of McAllen, Hannah attends Texas A&M University in College Station.  Hannah is a Lechner Scholar and has been selected for a Summer Marketing Internship. Hannah graduated from IB at Lamar Academy in 2020. While in high school, Hannah was the student class president her sophomore through senior year, she was the program director for the RGV National Hispanic Institute Cross Examination, and the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show Cover Girl in 2020.  Her family is in the boot making business which is a much needed commodity amongst the ranchers and farmers.

Cassidy Renae  Hinojosa

Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rene Hinojosa Jr. of Lyford, Cassidy attends Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas where she is part of the Texas Tech Horse Judging Team.  Cassidy graduated from Lyford High School in 2020 where she was a member of National Honor Society, FFA, Student Council, ran Track and Field, and was a Tip-O-Tex District FFA Officer.  She also obtained a Lonestar Farmer Degree.  Cassidy’s cousin, Kassandra Illiana Hinojosa, was Duchess of Willacy County in 2015.  Her great grandfather farmed produce in the 70’s through 80’s, and currently her family bales hay.
