Ambassador

Levi David Newell

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Frontis and Beth Newell of Rio Hondo. Ambassador Levi attends Texas A&M University--College Station. He is a member of the Texas Aggies Storm Chasers and is currently working on research in atmospheric science. Levi graduated from Harlingen High School in 2018. While there, he served as Vice President of the FFA chapter and was on the varsity tennis team.  He was a state qualifier in FFA wildlife CDE, graduated in the top 13 of his high school class, and was an AP Scholar.  In his spare time, Levi enjoys storm chasing, hiking, and kayaking.  Levi's grandparents Mr. and Mrs. David and Sharron Newell served as board members and were Don and Dona in 1988.  His Aunts Sherry Newell Wiseman and Suzanne Newell both served as queen in 1981 and 1984. respectively.  His sister Georgia Newell was Queen in 2018.  In 1936, Levi's great grandfather, Frontis Newell, started Rio Hondo Implement, later buying a dealership in Harlingen and Brownsville.  He later sold all three dealerships to concentrate on farming which includes cotton, milo, corn, surgarcane and sesame.
